Putting AI agents at the forefront of decision-making
We rise above any mission-critical challenge
What if we had a team of experts: logistics leads, intelligence analysts, and field planners at our disposal at any time? Could we cut decision-making time dramatically? Could we process information faster, act sooner, and respond smarter in critical situations?
At Sopra Steria, we’ve set out to explore exactly that. In this innovation project, we’re building a multi-agent AI framework using large language models (LLMs) to support high-stakes decision-making for an organisation that plays a vital role in public safety. It’s early days, but the potential? Enormous.
The bottleneck: so much information, so little time
For complex questions, it’s important to base your decisions on a wide variety of sources. Reports, real-time feeds, maps, historical cases. The list goes on. But with limited time on your hands, there’s only so much you can do at once. It’s simply impossible to absorb it all. Important signals get missed. Decisions get delayed. The challenge is clear: how can we support experts by helping them filter, organise, and interpret vast volumes of data without removing their involvement?
The role Sopra Steria played
As AI rapidly evolves, it seems like we’re entering a new age: the era of AI agents. These are autonomous or semi-autonomous systems powered by language models that can take on specific roles like gathering information, reasoning, and making recommendations. Much like a human expert would.
Right now, we’re in the early stages of building and testing a multi-agent framework designed to simulate a team of experts working together on complex decisions. We brought together a multidisciplinary team of genAI specialists, AI architects, and developers to shape this new system. Our goal? To explore how this kind of setup could help organisations make faster and more informed choices, especially in high-stakes situations.
Behind the screens: Pauline’s story
Pauline Van Nies, Senior Data Scientist at Sopra Steria, is leading the project. “When I read the introduction, I immediately thought: this opportunity is next-level cool,” she says. “It combines a completely new area (AI agent frameworks) with what we already know from working with large, diverse datasets.” Working for something as important and potentially lifesaving also works as a huge motivator to keep going.
The project is fast paced, but deeply collaborative. “No single person can keep up with all the innovation happening in this space,” she adds. “Teamwork and knowledge sharing are absolutely essential.”
Why this project matters
While the tech is new, the goal is a tale as old as time: keeping people safe by making better decisions, faster. By simulating specialist expertise, this project could change how high-stakes decisions are supported in disaster response, healthcare or even defence situations.
Will you rise above any mission-critical challenge, too?
Want to shape the future of our safety? Or maybe aerospace, pharma, or logistics feel more like your playground? Wherever your passion lies, there’s a challenge waiting for you at Sopra Steria.
The world is how we shape it. Let’s shape it together.
Rise above any high-stakes challenge
When the stakes are high, there’s a solution we’re sure to find. Learn how Pauline van Nies and her team are changing how mission-critical decisions are made through AI Agent Frameworks.
